PPSR Search NZ
The Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) provides a single system where all registrations of security interests in personal property have been combined to create a comprehensive, publicly accessible database. This database has been created so it is possible to view security interests registered against specified collateral. It is available to the public and can be used by consumers, businesses and the finance industry, as well as by those who sell collateral on consignment or credit. The Companies Office is the government agency responsible for administering the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR). The PPSR is the electronic register where details of security interests in personal property can be registered and searched.
- Secured parties can register details about their security interests in the PPSR (including details of the debtor)
- Subject to privacy rules and controls, people can search the PPSR to find out about security interests in personal property
- Secured parties discharge (remove) their security interests from the PPSR when the money (for example) has been repaid
Searching the NZ PPSR
There are many different reasons why you might want to search the PPSR. A secured party is likely to search the PPSR as part of the process leading up to entering into a security agreement.
